Status of Campus Operations
Campus operations have been adjusted to ensure that every student and employee can exercise their voting rights in the manner they feel most effective. This includes remote work and classes on November 4, 6, and 7, 2024 and the campus closure on Election Day, November 5.
Due to the unique circumstances of the 2024 presidential election, which include a Howard alumna on the national ballot, we anticipate high visibility for the University and piqued interest about its history and impact.
Letter from President Vinson
Now that the Harris-Walz campaign has officially confirmed plans to hold its presidential election night event here at Howard University, I want to share a few important updates. This is a momentous occasion, as it will be the first time in modern history that a presidential election night event will be hosted on a college or university campus. We are incredibly proud of our alumna, Kamala Harris, who has already made history as the first woman of color and HBCU graduate to serve as our nation's vice president. We are also honored that she has chosen Howard as the place to potentially make history again.
