2024 Memorial Day Operations

Howard University will close at 3 P.M. on Friday, May 24th, in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 27. The campus will resume regular hours of operation on Tuesday, May 28. 

The College of Dentistry will remain open and continue to operate according to its current hours and schedule.

 

Closure Details: 

  • Department of Public Safety (DPS): Continuous safety and security coverage will be provided, with building access for essential employees.

  • Physical Facilities Management: Available to respond to urgent situations and emergencies.

  • Enterprise Technology Services Help Desk: Support will be available, with personnel on standby for emergency IT issues.

  • Howard University Hospital: Will remain open.

  • Faculty Practice Plan: Closed on Monday, May 27, with services resuming on Tuesday, May 28.

  • Shuttle Services: No service on Monday, May 27; services resume on Tuesday, May 28.

  • Auxiliary Services and the Bison One Card Office: Closing on Friday, May 24 at 3 p.m. and reopening on Tuesday, May 28. For urgent matters, please contact onecard@howard.edu.

  • University Bookstore: Closed on Monday, May 27, and will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, May 28.

  • Graphics & Printing: Closed on Monday, May 27, and will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, May 28.

  • Mail Services: Suspended on Monday, May 27, and will resume operations on Tuesday, May 28.

  • HU Dining Services: Operating on a weekend schedule, Blackburn Café will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All buildings will be secured and locked. Essential personnel needing access to campus buildings must check in with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) at 202-806-1100. 

Unless designated as essential personnel, employees should not travel to Howard University to work.
